While it is fascinating and interesting that these people went through this harrowing ordeal, it does become rather dry and dull after a time. This book has excellent primary and secondary sources about what happened as the Titanic sank, so why don’t I give it five stars? Well, this is an example of a primary selling point, also being a primary problem. The author also provides a detailed account of what happened to each person before and after the Titanic sank. Each corresponding tale tells about how the person in question survived the sinking. You see, it has many different perspectives of the sinking, with every different view shown based on the rough estimate of when each boat was launched. Was it as good as I imagined in terms of providing a first hand account of the sinking? Yes, and that is part of the problem. So when I found this at my local bookstore, I could not resist and decided to pick it up. I have also watched many documentaries and seen museum exhibits on the topic. My interest in the Titanic goes far beyond the film interpretation of the sinking. This book was one that I was looking forward to reading. The charming gentleman thief has not only found his way into our digital bookshelves but also into our hearts with his utterly French sense of humor. Winnie was so bad with that I almost gave up multiple times but the plot kept me going. The largest being that they need better editing. The books were not without their faults, to be sure. I've loved Kulti, The Wall of Winnipeg, Dear Aaron, and From Lukov With Love. But somehow the way she's written these books has kept me hooked. A kiss might happen as early as 70% if she's feeling particularly frisky. Her unique slow-burn style of romance surprised me with how much it appealed to me since the physical romance between her characters usually doesn't even begin until *maybe* 90%. Mariana Zapata has been one of my favorite authors over the last few years. My Policeman is a deeply heartfelt story of love's passionate endurance, and the devastation wrought by a repressive society. Forster had with a policeman, Bob Buckingham, and his wife. In this evocative portrait of midcentury England, Bethan Roberts reimagines the real life relationship the novelist E. To this day, Fort Pillow remains one of the most controversial battles in American history. Northerners deemed it premeditated slaughter. Confederates called this bloody battle and its aftermath a hard-won victory. By the next day, hundreds of Federals were dead, over 60 black soldiers had been captured and re-enslaved, and over 100 white soldiers had been marched off to their doom at Andersonville. On April 12, 1864, on the Tennessee banks of the Mississippi River, a force of more than 3,000 Confederate cavalrymen under General Nathan Bedford Forrest stormed Fort Pillow, overwhelming a garrison of some 350 Southern white Unionists and over 300 former slaves turned artillerymen. The myth of meritocracy, or “the Great Hunger” as Henri’s dad likes to call it, pushes Henri to achieve opportunities on the level of his classmates through maintaining a high GPA at his prestigious school while balancing his financial and extracurricular responsibilities for a well-rounded application. That is, until his “intense” neighbor Corinne Troy discovers his scheme and uses it to blackmail him into helping her become more sociable at school.Īs a reader who is not much older than Henri, the struggles of the college admission process are not far back in my memory. Henri “Halti” Haltiwanger is a Haitan-American high school student attending an elite private school on scholarship with the hopes of getting into Columbia, while supposedly working as a dog-walker for Uptown Updogs. I recommend this book to you if you like books that are Leisurely Paced and Fiction. This book is very Leisurely Paced and is a Fiction book. She can be sad, excited, energetic, happy, mad, enthusiastic, awesome, and even silly. I would rate this book five out of zero stars because Cammy has a lot of different kinds of moods. I felt really scared, but then I saw the rain outside my window and I wasn't scared anymore. I can relate to this when I woke up to loud thunder and misinterpreted it by a gun shot. Cammy finally saw her brother's pickup truck and waved to her brother and got in. I really like this author so far because he goes into good detail of how Cammy's afraid of thunder. Cammy hates thunder and found some shelter. It was thundering and raining and Cammy was scared in the cold rain. Finally Cammy broke into tears and ran out the door. Their argument was about how Patty Ann was so beautiful and good at everything she did. I am at the part when Cammy runs away from her cousins house because of an argument. She has a dying great grandmother that she calls Gram Tut. The book Is about an eleven year old girl named Cammy. I am currently reading Virginia Hamilton's Cousins. |
